Dr. Maria Santos serves as Chief Medical Officer of Alianza Health Partners, providing clinical and strategic leadership across all eight of the company’s service lines. She is responsible for clinical quality, physician engagement, care model design, and the medical direction of Alianza’s population health and value-based care programs.

Dr. Santos brings a rare combination of frontline clinical experience and healthcare executive leadership. She practiced as an internist for nearly a decade in Puerto Rico before transitioning to population health leadership, where she led quality improvement and care management programs for a major Puerto Rico managed care organization. That dual perspective—patient at the center, system in view—informs everything she brings to Alianza’s clinical strategy.

Under her medical direction, Alianza’s primary care network has achieved top-decile performance on key HEDIS measures including diabetes management, hypertension control, and colorectal cancer screening. She personally oversees the design of Alianza’s clinical protocols, care management workflows, and the MyChron population health platform’s clinical decision support rules.

Dr. Santos is a recognized voice in Puerto Rico’s healthcare community on the topics of health disparities, social determinants of health, and the role of bilingual, culturally competent care in improving outcomes for the island’s diverse population.
