Ed Heltzel co-founded Alianza Health Partners alongside Jason Thomas, bringing more than two decades of technology experience to the company’s infrastructure, product, and data systems. As Chief Information Officer, Ed owns Alianza’s technology strategy end-to-end — cloud architecture, platform engineering, developer experience, and the data foundations that every clinical and operational initiative runs on.

Ed has been writing code since he was fourteen, and has spent his career at the intersection of engineering and design. That dual lineage — a B.S. in Exercise Biology from Belmont University’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, an A.A. in Marketing & Product Design from The Modern School of Design, and twenty-plus years building software — is reflected in how he approaches every system: rigorous underneath, thoughtful on the surface, and built for the humans who use it.

He is a Google Cloud Certified Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer, and his technical focus spans cloud infrastructure, CI/CD and release engineering, platform and API design, data pipelines, and modern full-stack development. At Alianza, that translates into a technology stack built for value-based care workflows, population health analytics, and seamless coordination across the company’s growing network of providers and service lines.

Ed’s operating philosophy is straightforward: technology should disappear into the work. Clinicians shouldn’t fight the system, patients shouldn’t feel the seams, and the team behind them should have tools that make the right thing easy to do and the wrong thing hard to do by accident.
